We’d like to say a big thank you to Dawn Briggs, who has retired from Richardson Care after 26 years. It will certainly be the end of an era and she’ll be greatly missed by staff and service users alike.

Her title is Administration Co-ordinator, but her role has been much more than that. Dawn has seen many changes since she started working at Richardson Care in 1995 and has become the oracle of the company. We’ve had some interesting times with service users’ complex behaviours, and even more complex staff. However, Dawn has been a constant support, remaining calm throughout the colourfulness of specialist residential care.

She’s incredibly loyal and kind. She is much loved by the service users and has been a huge support to them all, especially Denise. Dawn supported Denise to work alongside her in the office and became a true friend to her. This was particularly valued by Denise when she was seriously ill in hospital and Dawn went to visit her. After working alongside Dawn for 24 years, Denise has also decided to retire, so it was a double celebration last week. Although they will no longer be working together, Dawn and Denise have arranged to meet up on a regular basis.

Dawn has also been the voice of Richardson Care for decades. A calm presence at the end of the phone. She’d put you at ease, whether you’re applying for a job, enquiring about a family member or making a referral.

Dawn makes time for everyone. She’d be the one who would make lovely cakes for special occasions, organise functions at Christmas (pre-Covid!) and bring people together.

Dawn, all of us at Richardson Care would like to wish you a long, happy and healthy retirement. You’ve certainly earnt it. Thank you for everything you’ve done for us, and for being you. You’ve made so many friends here, we hope that you’ll keep in touch. Wishing you good luck and onto the next adventures that life has in store for you.
