Paula joined the Multi-Disciplinary Team at Richardson Care in June 2018. She qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2000 and has a vast amount of experience working in the field of neurology across the care pathway, including acute hospitals, community hospitals and a specialist neuro-rehabilitation centre. In addition, Paula is the lead Occupational Therapist in a newly-formed community neuro-rehab team.

Paula works with a range of neurological conditions, particularly acquired brain injury (for example, hypoxic brain injury, stroke and traumatic brain injury). She has a particular interest in working with clients who experience cognitive or behavioural difficulties. She is also a skilled clinician with regards to neurological visual difficulties, upper limb weakness and other physical and emotional consequences of a neurological event. In addition, Paula offers fatigue, anxiety management, complex pain management and graded return to work programmes. She is an independent practitioner working with Krysalis Consultancy Ltd.

Qualifications and Training:

  • BSc (hons) Occupational Therapy
  • Annual training includes protection of vulnerable adults, conflict resolution and manual handling

Clinical training courses include:

  • Behavioural changes following brain injury
  • Visual perceptual dysfunction
  • Introduction to normal movement (Bobath technique)
  • Cognitive Rehabilitation (Basic and Advanced)
  • Driving following a neurological event
  • Assessment and treatment of the neurologically impaired upper limb
  • Postural management
  • Moving and handling
  • Member of the College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Sections in Neurological Practice, Work and Independent Practice
  • Member of the United Kingdom Acquired Brain Injury Forum (UKABIF)
