Olivia Ferrie spent a year as part of our psychology team from September 2018 – September 2019 before taking a break to go travelling. She returned to Richardson Care in April 2020.

Olivia works with service users who have acquired brain injuries and complex needs at two of our specialist residential homes: The Richardson Mews and 144 Boughton Green Road.

Olivia delivers group and individual psychology sessions to support service users’ well-being and help them to develop skills to increase community involvement and achieve their goals. Psychology sessions include Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) and relaxation sessions. Olivia is also involved in drug and alcohol misuse work – this follows a person-centred Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) model to help individuals in all aspects of their recovery. In addition, Olivia prepares positive behaviour support plans for service users and neuropsychological assessments in preparation for their formal reviews.

About her role at Richardson Care, Olivia says: “The most enjoyable part of my job is the interaction that I have with service users. They have so many inspiring stories and it’s a privilege to work with them and contribute to their quality of life in any way that I can.”

Olivia is also working with other members of the psychology team at Richardson Care on some exciting and innovative research projects. One of them involves developing a tool to measure and reinforce positive behaviour in service users.

Prior to joining Richardson Care, Olivia worked with men with mental health difficulties and criminal backgrounds, and children and adolescents with mental health needs.
