Being based at 2&8 Kingsthorpe Grove during this time, with a stable population of service users, means that Tally knows them all very well. She can easily tell if anyone is unsettled or not happy. Picking up any issues early and discussing them with staff, means that Tally can act on them quickly to prevent them escalating. This is also important when completing regular care plan reviews. In addition, Tally has built up a good rapport with service users’ families over the years.
Moving to a management role means that Tally spends less time with the service users, so they are especially pleased to see her when she arrives for work – often waiting at the door for her. She is a warm and caring person and will always make time to have a coffee and a chat with a service user in her office to reinforce positive behaviour.
Tally says: “I love my role. I love supporting the service users and supporting the staff. I’ve done all the care roles here so I know what every job entails and I’m still very hands-on. I’ve got a great team around me and I’ve worked with many of the staff for a long time. The management team at Richardson Care is very approachable so I feel supported in my role.”
Tally continues: “The care we provide is very person-centred and it’s a really homely environment. With a consistent service user population and a long-standing staff team, we create a stable family environment for everyone.”
Outside work, Tally is very family-orientated, spending time with her partner and two daughters and enjoys family weekends at her mum’s leisure home in the Northamptonshire countryside.
