2 & 8 Kingsthorpe Grove are adjacent detached Victorian properties and are homes for adults with learning disabilities and complex needs. Number 2 is home to eight adults and number 8 is home to ten adults. They are under one registration for administrative purposes but cater for different levels of needs, personalities and choices.
Both homes offer a warm, homely and stable environment, providing long-term residential care and a home for life if required. In fact, two of our service users at No 8 Kingsthorpe Grove have been in our care for 30 years – since we first started in 1989.
2 & 8 Kingsthorpe Grove both provide spacious accommodation with plenty of communal space inside and separate generous gardens outside. This gives service users choices on where to spend their time at home and who to spend it with. It also contributes to a calm, relaxed atmosphere within the home.
We shop for food locally on a daily basis and prepare meals in the house kitchen. We support service users who have the functional ability and want to prepare their own food.
Wheelchair-accessible bedrooms are located on the ground floor of each home, with further bedrooms on the first and second floors. All have ensuite or private shower rooms.
We encourage service users to feel at home and personalise their bedrooms, which can be decorated to suit their taste. We are also happy for them to bring items of their own furniture if they choose.
The homes are located in the area of Kingsthorpe, Northampton, which has a real sense of community. There are shops, cafes and pubs nearby as well as a village church, local park and other leisure facilities. Northampton town centre is just a few miles away, easily accessible by bus. 2 & 8 Kingsthorpe Grove are also close to The Richardson Mews, one of our other homes, where we have a large hall used for communal activities such as parties, music sessions and bowling.
2 & 8 Kingsthorpe Grove have been managed by Jackie Mann since 2012
